Here at The Kedleston Country House, we’re lucky to be surrounded by picturesque Derbyshire countryside, as well as being just a stones throw away from the quaint City Centre of Derby. Whether you’re visiting us for a long weekend, or you just want to explore the local area after your dining reservation, here are some of our favourite things to do within 5 miles of The Kedleston Country House.

National Trust Kedleston Hall

The Kedleston Country House sits proudly on the historic Kedleston estate. Why not explore the National Trust’s Kedleston Hall? An 18th Century mansion with vast parkland. Enjoy one of the many walks in the area and take in the beautiful scenery – dogs on leads are allowed, and there’s plenty for children to see and do.

Markeaton Park

Just a short drive away from the Kedleston, Markeaton Park is a great location for a nice long walk. With quaint cafe’s and gift shops, as well as the Mundy Play Centre to keep little ones occupied, it’s a great place to while away some time before popping over to us for some lunch

Derby’s Cathedral Quarter

Fancy a spot of shopping on your visit to Derby? The Cathedral Quarter is certainly worth a visit. There are many independent boutique stores, including designer clothing, quaint cafes and eateries, and elegant homewares and gifts. If you’re looking for more well-known high street shops, make a visit to Intu, Derby which is just a short walk away from the Cathedral Quarter.

Pride Park Stadium

Home of Derby County Football Club, why not make the most of your weekend away by booking to see the local team play? There’s also the local gift shop to pick up some merchandise for yourself, or for the football lover in your life!

Duffield Castle

Visit the stunning town of Duffield, just a few miles away from us here in Quarndon. Take a trip to visit the remains of one of England’s largest castles – Duffield Castle. The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and is certainly worth a trip if you’re in the area. There are some wonderful walks in the area too, so you can really explore the best of the Derbyshire countryside.
